It is found in low concentrations in various other parts of the body. It is found in low concentrations in sweat, tears, saliva, bile, pancreatic juice, urine, seminal fluid, vaginal mucus, and mucus in the nasal cavity, respiratory tract, and gastrointestinal tract. Lactoferrin is also produced by certain white blood cells. These white blood cells store lactoferrin and release it at the site of an infection. There is evidence that exercise increases lactoferrin production in the body.Immediately after birth, you receive large amounts of this special substance through your first breast milk (colostrum).
